Conrad Electronic, Hirschau, Germany
Conrad Electronic is one of the largest mail order companies for electrical goods in the world. The "modern princes of the information and communication age" reside in a twelfth century castle near Hirschau, Germany, in keeping with their status. The new conference building, by the Italian designer Michele de Lucchi and his partner Nic Bewick, forms an interesting contrast to the historical part of the complex. The outer appearance of the building projects openness, flexibility and transparency in line with its function as a place of learning and communication.
The foyer generally serves as an area for intervals and relaxation. Participants from various conference groups meet here and can continue discussions in a more private atmosphere. The hall is furnished with our Confair range. These furniture units can be easily folded up and moved aside to create an area of 250 sq m for exhibitions or concerts. Up to six conference rooms of varying size can be configured in the lower tract of the building as required due to a flexible system of space dividers. There is automatic adjustment of room technology, such as acoustic irradiation, lighting or darkening of the room, to the selected size of the room. The entire conference area is coordinated with this flexible utilization of space as it is equipped with folding tables, servers and pinboards from the Confair range.
