Wilkhahn at 100% Design in Rotterdam: premiere of Travis table range in the Dutch market

[06-03-2008] "Living - Working, Working - Living"
is the
title of Wilkhahn's platform together with
manufacturers Gelderland, Belux, Kvadrat and
Carpet Concept for this year's event of "100%
Design" which is taking place in Rotterdam from
5 to 7 June. The Wilkhahn performance focuses
on a table with two legs, a span of three metres
and perfectly integrated media technology from
the new Travis table range that is being presented
in the Netherlands for the first time.

Rotterdam.
100% Design is a home game for Wilkhahn:
this year, as traditionally, the event is taking place in the
Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek which also houses the
showroom of Wilkhahn Netherlands. The spectacular
building dating back to the period of Modernity is, by
the way, being awarded the "European Union Prize for
Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards" at Durham
Cathedral in North England on 12 June 2008 as one of
the six best projects selected as an example of preserving European cultural heritage.

For this platform, Wilkhahn has developed a concept in
collaboration with manufacturers Gelderland, Belux,
Kvadrat and Carpet Concept that shows various
scenarios in which the "hybrid" design quality of products
is particularly well expressed: the exhibition entitled
"Living - Working, Working - Living" shows fascinating
settings for working and living environments using an
interplay of products from the manufacturers involved.

The star of the Wilkhahn performance is a single table
with two legs and 3.6 metres long from the new Travis
range, which was designed by the wiege design studio.
In addition to high aesthetic quality, the range has
three advantages in terms of concept:

. Large spans of up to 3.2 metres between the
recessed table legs result in calm and spacious table
configurations allowing variable seating layouts.
. The modular, articulating frame structure with
crossbeams that are freely positionable at various
angles allows the wide selection of serial models to
be extended to include customized versions in industrial
serial quality.
. A highly professional power supply system, which has
been included as a specifiable feature of the concept
from the very start, permits perfect and virtually invisible
integration of modern media technology into table
configurations - including "interactive, integrated
techni-consoles", offered exclusively by Wilkhahn, with
which participants can switch on to a projection surface
at the push of a button.

The table model that is exhibited is accompanied by
ultra-light, transparent swivel chairs from the Aline range
(design: Andreas Störiko). In an interplay of sideboards
and highboards, perfectly designed lighting, colour
scheme, textiles and flooring, the table scenario would
work equally well in either a meeting room in a creative
department or as a dining table for a larger family.
