Waiting with ease: the Aline bench Design: Andreas Störiko

[10-22-2008] Aline, the light, multi-purpose chair with a semi-transparent membrane, designed by Andreas Störiko, was introduced four years ago. It won high design awards and, within a short time, it became an international bestseller. There followed bar height stools and swivel chairs, as well as tables in low, sitting and standing height to support informal contact opportunities in those areas which are located between workspaces and conferences. At this year's Orgatec, Wilkhahn is now presenting the Aline bench system as yet a further addition to the range.

The Aline bench system allows transit areas, exhibition halls, reception areas or waiting rooms to be furnished with the unmistakable light and loose quality of the Aline product family: two T-shaped base elements with bright chromium-plated foot sections in die-cast aluminium are connected by means of a slender supporting beam into which location points for freely configurable side tables and seat units are integrated. The slender side tables, with a thickness of just twelve millimetres, comprise through-dyed, dent and shatter resistant HPL (high pressure laminate). The graceful seat and back frames have a semi-transparent membrane in high-performance plastic. They are not only a convincing solution due to their unmistakable aesthetics, but being resilient and air-permeable, they also provide an outstandingly high degree of comfort.

The Aline bench is available with or without armrests in the colours black and white with a matching membrane cover. There is a choice between two widths with three or five location points for seats and/or side tables, which may be fitted either in the centre or at the sides.

More design scope for Aline chairs
In addition to colour-matched covers, Aline chairs with a black frame are now also available with a two-tone material: copper/black and silver/black extend the design scope in terms of colour. Besides, Aline swivel chairs are now optionally available with textile cushions with high-quality stitched fluting.
